Who is this for?

The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981.

This course is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirement of first aid regulations; typically, those working in shops, offices, and other low risk environments.

The SIA now requires a first aid qualification for those wishing to complete the SIA Security/Door Supervisor Courses.

How Long Is The Course And What Is Involved?

The course is 6 days long (from April 2021) - Monday to Saturday – 9am to 5pm (approximately/most days). You will be required to do some home study (approx. 8 hours) for which you will be given materials. You must complete this as we will check to see if you have covered all the topics. During the course, you will study 3 units and you will be assessed on them at the end via multiple choice exams. The final day will consist of Physical Intervention training, where you will learn various aspects the physical techniques of Security and Door Supervision including, searching, conflict management, protecting yourself and those under your care, and keeping your environment and your customers safe. This will be tested via an assessment of various techniques learned.

Is A First Aid Qualification Mandatory Before Doing The SIA Curse?

Yes, from 1 April 2021, SIA require any student doing the Door Supervision or Security Guarding Course to be in possession of a First Aid at Work Qualification.

Where Can I Do A First Aid Course?

Brit Skills & Training offer First Aid courses. This is a 1-day course, and you get the result on the same day. You can either do the course as a standalone course any time, as long as you complete it before you start your SIA course. Alternatively, the easiest way to do it is, as a package with your SIA course. All it means is that your SIA course become a 7-day course with the First Aid course on day 1 followed by the SIA course from days 2-7. This is the easiest way to do, get everything done under one roof, without any hassle of waiting around. We offer discounts to those who do the First Aid course with us either on its own or as part of a package. Please bear in mind you will need to pass the First Aid course to progress onto the SIA course on day 2.
