The SIA stipulates a minimum of 30 contact hours (4-days) if self-study is undertaken before attending class. The SIA stipulate; for you to complete the Level 2 Security Officers course in just 4 days (30 hours), instead of their new minimum course duration requirement of 5 days (42 hours), you must complete some home study BEFORE you attend the first day of the course. You may be asked to prove this, and you will also be tested to ensure you have covered the necessary study at home. Upon booking this course with us, you will be emailed all the course resources which you MUST study. You will need to sit and pass a 20-question multiple-choice exam on the morning of the first day of your course to evidence that you have completed the mandatory distance learning.
ONLINE OPTION:We offer this course remotely online for 3 days and 1-day face to face in class for the practical sessions and exams.
Topics covered:These include the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry, the importance of safe working practices, roles and responsibilities of security officers, drug-misuse legislation, issues and procedures relevant to the role of a security officer, how to conduct effective search procedures, queue management, how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations and problem-solving techniques when resolving conflict.
Assessment method: This qualification is assessed by practical assessments and multiple-choice examinations.

Entry requirements: To register for this qualification, learners must be aged 18 and over. This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16 and over. However, learners aged 16-17 cannot apply for an SIA license until the age of 18.
Mandatory First Aid Qualification: Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate (unless they are doing one as package before starting the SIA course) that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Learners should, as a minimum, have achieved an EFAW qualification.
Language prerequisite:Security operatives are likely in the course of their work to be required to make calls to the emergency services, or for example communicate to resolve conflict. It is essential that security operatives can communicate effectively.
It is the centre’s responsibility to ensure that each learner is sufficiently competent in the use of the English language. All assessment must be conducted in the medium of English.
Learners should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening equivalent to the following.
a. A B2 Level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications.
b. A B2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
c. An ESOL qualification at (Level 1) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
d. An ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and qualifications Framework Level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland.
e. Functional Skills Level 1 in English.
f. SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and qualifications Framework Level 5.
g. Essential Skills Wales Communication Level 1.
